They Were Saved From Death After Being Found Covered In Yellow Paint, Unable To Move

Some acts cannot be described as anything other than cruel and inhumane. Unfortunately, when it comes to animals, they are the ones who suffer the most. And even though today there are many foundations and organizations that defend their rights, there are still places where animal abuse is not punished.

In Guangzhou, a 27-year-old woman named Yue You Meng found a pair of kittens. She was walking down the street when she heard faint meowing sounds. Curious, she decided to look more closely for where the cries were coming from.

She found them inside a box near the street she was walking along. What shocked her most was when she opened the battered cardboard box and saw that the kittens were covered almost entirely in yellow paint.

“When I opened it, I saw the two kittens covered in sticky yellow paint,” Yue You said. “It was almost dry, and their legs were stuck together. Even their eyes had been sealed shut by the paint.”

There was no doubt the kittens were in terrible condition. The paint had dried so much that their legs were glued together, preventing them from moving. It even made it hard for them to breathe, as part of their chests were also covered and hardened by the paint.

Fortunately for the kittens, the young woman who found them was determined to help. She took the box and brought them home, where she tried on her own to remove the sticky, hardened substance.

“They were really in a miserable state, so I took the box and brought them home and tried to clean off the paint,” Yue You said.

But the situation was not easy. After spending some time trying to remove the paint, she had to take the kittens to a veterinarian, as the task was far from simple. At the clinic, the kittens’ fur had to be shaved in order to free them from the prison that the yellow paint had formed around their bodies.

The kittens are still recovering, but they are doing a bit better now. They can already walk, and as far as is known, their eyes and ears did not suffer permanent damage. However, they still have a long way to go before fully healing, as their fur has not completely grown back and some bald patches can still be seen on their bodies.

“They are very resilient, and despite such a bad start in life, they are already starting to play with each other like normal kittens,” Yue You said about their current condition. However, the reasons behind such an act of cruelty are still unknown, and whether it was done intentionally or not remains unclear.

Organizations such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have spoken out about the case:

“Throwing paint on animals is terribly cruel and could cause allergic reactions, blood poisoning, and other life-threatening complications, including suffocation.”

Sadly, in China, there are no penalties for animal abuse, so this case is not being investigated by the police. PETA’s Asia office remains in constant communication with municipal governments in China in an effort to improve animal welfare legislation, but so far these efforts have not produced results.
