Sergey Baranov and his wife Yelena are a couple from Siberia who managed to save a kitten’s life. It all began like a normal day, but before leaving for work, Sergey decided to take a look under the car to make sure there were no animals there.
The night had been extremely cold, and homeless animals often seek the warmth of car engines to survive freezing temperatures. Indeed, a frightened kitten was there, completely paralyzed.
“Always check under your car before starting the engine,” Sergey advised.
At first, the couple didn’t understand why the kitten wasn’t moving despite the humans being nearby. They tried to get his attention, but when nothing worked, they decided to move the car very carefully.
That was when they realized the situation was far more serious than they had imagined. The kitten’s paws were completely frozen from the cold. He looked terrified, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t move.
“He must have arrived during the night, looking for a warm place. He fell asleep, and by morning all his little paws were frozen,” Sergey explained.
Sergey and his wife tried to pick him up, but they were afraid of hurting him if they made the wrong move. They fetched some warm water from the house and gently poured it over the area to help his paws slowly thaw.
It wasn’t easy, but they finally managed it. Even though he was free, the affected kitten still couldn’t move his limbs.
The couple wrapped him in a blanket and took him into their home to give him warmth. For a moment, they thought they had arrived too late—but just a few minutes later, the sweet kitten began to purr again in gratitude.
They took him to the veterinarian, where they were praised for their quick thinking. In situations like this, acting as fast as possible is crucial.
If they had waited just a few more minutes, the poor kitten might have lost his life to hypothermia.
The adorable kitten was only seven months old and was named Semyon. The veterinarians gave him an anti-inflammatory injection, and he made a full recovery. Just a couple of days later, he was adopted by a young woman and now lives a happy life, safe from the harsh cold.
Never hesitate to give a little time and love to an animal in need. Share!
